Our Farmers

We are proudly owned by our 157 Welsh dairy farms.

We are owned by 157 member farms, and every milk supplier holds a share in the co-operative. This keeps decision-making close to the land, supports fair and sustainable terms, and underpins the quality, consistency and long-term resilience our partners rely on.

Farmer-owned means shared success

Every member farm that supplies milk to SCC also owns a share in the business. That co-operative model keeps decision-making close to the land, rewards quality, and focuses on building a resilient future for Welsh dairy farming.

What membership looks like

  • Transparency

Clear communication and open reporting, with regular updates and opportunities to meet.

  • Commercial focus

A practical approach to range, sales and profitability, with ongoing review and new product development.

  • Market insight

We monitor trends and evolving customer requirements, so the co-operative stays competitive.

  • Connection

Regular meetings, newsletters and an annual AGM keep members informed, connected and up to date.

Quality standards on farm

Quality starts at farm level. Member farms are audited regularly to meet the requirements of Red Tractor, alongside SCC’s own internal standards, helping protect consistency and confidence from milk collection onwards.

Milk supplier contract and returns

We aim for terms that reflect the realities of farming across the year. Returns are weighted towards milk constituents, volume and quality, supporting farms that deliver the best outcomes and strengthening the co-operative as a whole.

Meet our Farmers

Dafydd Besent – Penmaen Isaf

Penmaen Isaf is a small family farm near Machynlleth in mid Wales. Dafydd’s Nain and Taid bought the farm on 1 November 1960, and his parents took over in 1990. Today, Dafydd and his dad run the farm together, milking a herd of 70. They’re up at 5.50am, work through the day and usually finish around 8pm, unless there’s a pint waiting at 6.30 somewhere. Dafydd’s favourite part is getting to know the cows and their personalities.
